R. Haile's Nose-Down
Mouse Pattern This pattern is simply Wendy's mouse pattern knit from the small nose end to the wide base, which allows an i-cord tail to be knit in one with the mouse.
KFB: Knit into the Front and Back of the stitch to increase.
CB6: Slip the next three stitches onto a cable needle and hold in
back of the work. Knit the next three stitches, then knit the three from the needle.
Cast on 6 stitches, leaving a tail long enough to use for sewing up.

Row 26: BO in pattern all but last four st. K4.
Work i-cord tail on remaining four stitches to desired length.
(To make i-cord, you work the stitches on a double pointed needle.
When you've finished a row, rather than turning the stitches, you slide
them to the other end of the needle and start knitting into the stitch at
the opposite end of the row from the yarn in use. This creates a little
tube as the stitches are pulled over.)
I work these on double pointed needles; they're well suited for the
small number of stitches, and I don't need to get out different ones for the tail.
