cables
without a cable needle: right twist twisted rib cable |
knitting blog | |||
You want the last three stitches of the cable to cross over
in front. Then you want the middle stitch of the cable (a purl
stitch) crossed in bacl and worked, then work the first three
stitches to complete the cable. Sound complicated? It's really not that bad if you do it in
steps.
This cable is a little trickier. It's 7 stitches of
twisted rib: k1tbl (through back loop), p1, k1tbl, p1, k1tbl, p1,
k1tbl.
To work without a cable needle:

Put the right needle through the last three
stitches of the cable in front of the work:

Remove the left needle from all seven cable
stitches (the last three stitches remain on the right needle):

Behind the work, slip the tip of the left needle back
through the first four cable stitches:

Twist the cable:

Move the first three cable stitches from the
right needle to the left needle:

Work the first cable stitch: k1tbl:

Work the second cable stitch: p1:

Work the third cable stitch: k1tbl:

Now, move the yarn to the front as if to
purl:

Slip the tip of the right needle behind the work through the
last (fourth) cable stitch on the left needle:

Slip the left needle out of the four cable stitches (the
last, or fourth, stitch remains on the right needle):

Slip the tip of the left needle back through the first three cable stitches, then place the one cable stitch on the right needle back on the left needle:

Purl the next stitch:

Work the next three stitches k1tbl, p1, k1tbl:

Your cable is complete!
